Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Yesterday, can we remember what we've seen
What we've been told, and just what did we glean
The past, if unknown dooms us to repeat mistakes
Apply a little knowledge with some belief, which is all it takes
Today we spout our pride in what we now call knowledge
After all in America you can go to college
We need not heed the calling that will put us on the spot
After all, that was then, and now it matters not
Tomorrow is yet to come, can we avoid the tragedy
We will experience turmoil, confusion, loss of life and liberty
In the pursuit of happiness we know that cannot be
Events if not remembered will foster the days of infamy.
A situation so horrible and horrendous that surely we would learn
Our lesson, keep these events close, or is it our concern
Loss of loved ones, our possessions we watch while they dissolve
Before our eyes, or will we learn, with this we shall resolve
We as humans will resolve not to allow it to happen once again
But only if we heed the past do we have a chance to win
Liberty is only one generation away from dissipation
And only you can stop it, if you'll provide participation
